Begin your journey to the northern heights of Yerevan in the tranquil Lovers' Park, located along fashionable Marshal Baghramyan Avenue. This verdant retreat dates back to the eighteenth century when it was known as the Kozern Garden, adjacent to a medieval cemetery and chapel of the tenth-century theologian Hovhannes Kozern. During the Soviet period it was named Pushkin Park, until municipal authorities officially renamed it Lovers' Park in 1995, reflecting its timeless popularity among strolling couples.

In 2008, the park underwent a complete transformation funded by the Boghossian Foundation and designed by renowned Swiss-French landscape architect Pierre Rambach. Rambach created a masterpiece of landscape design, merging principles of traditional Japanese garden philosophy with native Armenian stone and water features. Winding paths surfaced with natural river gravel cross crystal streams via basalt footbridges, cascading over miniature waterfalls amidst volcanic boulders. In evening light, the dark basalt takes on a lustrous sheen.

Fresh mountain spring water descending from Kanaker feeds a chain of serene lily ponds stocked with ornamental carp. An expressive bronze statue honors celebrated twentieth-century Armenian poet Gevorg Emin, depicted in conversation with his favorite cat by sculptor Ashot Aramyan. Tucked into the eastern corner is a stone open-air amphitheater seating two hundred spectators, hosting summer chamber jazz festivals, indie film screenings, and modern sculpture exhibitions.

Mature weeping willows and pines provide dense shade, filtering out the roar of city traffic and creating an oasis of quiet harmony beside the presidential and parliamentary palaces. Visitors can relax with a book beside the whispering brooks, sip freshly brewed tea at the glass pavilion cafe, and watch golden fish glide beneath water lily pads in this harmonious sanctuary blending Caucasian nature with classical Eastern landscape artistry. The peaceful parkway provides a refreshing retreat from the lively traffic of Baghramyan Avenue.

Exit the park and walk east along peaceful Zarobyan Street among historic mid-century stone villas.
